Virtual Physiotherapy Session

What Should I Expect from A Virtual Session?

The services are largely the same as an in-person visit, except for the hands on portion. The physiotherapist is required to meet the same regulatory and legislative requirements and adhere to their respective Standards of Practice and Code of Conduct, just as they are for in-person services.

Prior to your appointment, you will receive an email with a link to your appointment session. This will enable both an audio and video connection between you and your clinician. Telehealth is also an option if you do not feel comfortable with the video component.

Any documentation that you need to review and complete prior to your appointment will be sent to you ahead of time.

Just as with an in-person session, you may stop the assessment or treatment at any time during the session.

What Might an Assessment/Treatment Include:

  • Thorough history taking to provide an accurate diagnosis

  • Examination of range of motion and movements

  • A functional movement examination

  • Education on the condition or injury

  • Prescription of exercises and stretches – with supporting photos/videos

  • Correction of exercise form and alternative cues to perform them more effectively

  • Provide and refine self joint mobilization techniques

  • Provide and refine self directed soft tissue treatment techniques

  • Provide a full rehab plan to follow in your own environment

  • Help train another person to assist you with exercises or stretches

  • If you are doing a prenatal session there will also be education on stages of labour, positioning for labour and delivery and perineal preparation.

The Assessment is 45-60min and follow-up Treatments are 30-40 min.
