Physiotherapy in Collingwood, designed for women related issues and concerns.

A note to you......

Collingwood+Physiotherapy

First off, I would like to say thank you for the consideration of letting me be a part of your health journey. Finding someone you trust and have confidence in is a big decision. If you are looking through the website it likely means that you are needing some help or wanting to be proactive with your health and well-being. If so, you have come to the right place!

I have had a long-time vision, since my early university days, to create a women’s health practice- a place where women could go to address their physical, emotional, and psychological well-being.

I grew up in Collingwood and after highschool attended Boston College on a volleyball scholarship. After two years, I decided to transfer back home and went to the University of Toronto. I played varsity volleyball for another two years and completed a Bachelor of Physical Health and Education degree. From there I went to Curtin University, in Perth Australia, and completed my Masters of Physiotherapy degree. It was here that I first found out about pelvic healthy physiotherapy, for which I am so grateful for.

I first started Higher Function Physiotherapy back in 2011 where I was focusing on orthopaedic and pelvic health physiotherapy for both men and women. I then branched out in 2015 and opened a clinic which just focused on women’s Pelvic Health Physiotherapy. The vision was starting to grow! Over the following years, I continued to expand my skills through various pelvic health courses (see below) and also working at a gym teaching classes and individuals, where I would build my exercise and training skills. This knowledge base has helped to create a practice that I take pride and confidence in.

In 2020 I moved into the Collingwood Obstetric and Gynecology office and am now surrounded by a group of talented Gynecologists/Obstetricians, as well as the Healthy Babies, Happy Families program run by the local Midwives. Now women can have confidence that they are coming to a place that is aligned with their needs.

I have always had an understanding and belief that we are more than just our physical entity and that we need to take care of all aspects of our selves to feel full. At Higher Function Women’s Health you can have confidence that you are being fully cared for as we help you achieve your highest function.

Sincerely,

Laura Powers, Physiotherapist/Owner
